DGO5.05 "Emergency Response and Pursuit Driving"

5.05.01 PURPOSE

The purpose of this order is to establish policies and procedures for the operation of police vehicles in both emergency response and pursuit driving situations. Only sworn officers may engage in response and pursuit driving. For purposes of this order, the term “members” means all ranks of sworn peace officers.

5.05.02 POLICY

A. GENERAL POLICY 

Members shall, at all times, drive with due regard for the safety of all persons.

DGO5.04 "Arrests by Private Persons"

5.04.01 PURPOSE

This order establishes policies regarding a member’s obligation to receive a subject arrested by a private person and procedures regarding the arrest or release of the subject.

5.04.02 DEFINITIONS

Exigent Circumstance Exception - An exigent circumstance exception arises when a member has specific and articulable facts that a particular action was performed by a member due to a concern for the safety of others or the safety of the involved member(s).

DGO10.11 Body Worn Cameras

10.11.01 PURPOSE

The purpose of this General Order is to establish the policies and procedures governing the San Francisco Police Department's ("Department's") Body Worn Camera ("BWC") program. BWC is an effective tool the Department uses to demonstrate its commitment to transparency, to ensure the accountability of its members, increase the public’s trust in officers, and fairly and objectively adjudicate complaints of misconduct.

DGO10.10 "Motor Fleet"

This order sets policies and procedures relating to the operation of the Department Motor Fleet. It complies with San Francisco Administrative Code Section 4.11, or limits vehicles to official use and requires record keeping for all vehicles owned, leased or rented by the City.
