Community Police Academy

Apply Now! Our next Community Police Academy begins on Thursday, August 21, 2025!

The SFPD Community Police Academy is a ten-week program open to community members and designed to provide an overview of the SFPD structure and activities. We are accepting applicants for the August 2025 Community Police Academy! Participants will learn about emergency communications, vehicle operations, bias training, and crisis intervention, and may go on a ride-along with officers on patrol. The academy is not part of the training needed to become a police officer, nor does it provide academic credit. Instead, it is intended for community members to learn more about reducing crime, improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods, and building relationships with law enforcement personnel. In turn, the Community Police Academy allows officers to improve their understanding of the people they serve.

Classes are free of charge and held throughout the year. The Community Police Academy meets once a week, on Thursday nights, at:

San Francisco Police Academy
350 Amber Drive
San Francisco, CA 94131
Thursday evenings from 6 PM to 9 PM

The Community Police Academy is hosted by the San Francisco Police Department's Community Engagement Division (CED). For more information, please contact the CED at:
