Police dogs need your support!
German and Belgian Shepherds support the SFPD on patrol and at the airport. They’re specially trained to sniff out explosives, apprehend suspects and recover evidence.
We want to protect them while they’re keeping us safe. That’s why we’re asking you to support “Cover Your K-9,” the Police and Working K-9 Foundation which is a non-profit all volunteer organization dedicated to ensuring that communities in California are able to keep their law enforcement K-9 teams safe with innovative technology and training. Their state of the art Cover Your K-9 Bullet-proof Vests and K-9 Trauma Kits are designed and manufactured in California. The popular Cover Your K-9 Fundraiser is held annually in July. You can donate or buy a stuffed K-9 Hero toy from the Cover Your K-9 Fund, a project of the non-profit Police and Working K-9 Foundation. One hundred percent of the donations will purchase:
- Canine Bullet-Proof Vests
- Trauma Kits
- Heat alarms to protect dogs in cars
- Canine Emergency Training
- Medical care for retired dogs
