DGO3.12 "Department Training Plan"

3.12.01 PURPOSE

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) is dedicated to the professional development of all its members, including sworn and professional staff. It is the mission of the Training Division to develop and deliver comprehensive, timely, and mandated education and training. The SFPD encourages every member to take advantage of all development opportunities.

DGO3.10 "Serious Incident Review Board"

3.10.01 POLICY 

Objective, timely, and thorough review of use of force and other serious incidents is a critical priority of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). Such incidents may offer valuable lessons related to procedure, tactics, tools, policy, training, or other aspects. Efficient review of these incidents will enhance officer safety, procedures, and training. Transparency around the Serious Incident Review Board (SIRB) findings will strengthen public trust.

DGO3.09 "Department Awards"

The purpose of this order is to define formal Department awards given to Department members, establish criteria for merit awards, and outline procedures by which awards are processed. For purposes of this General Order, the term “days” means calendar days.

3.09.01 TYPES OF AWARDS

A. MEDAL OF VALOR - Sworn members of the Department are eligible to receive this award. There are three types of medal of valor awards:

DGO11.12 "Temporary Modified Duty / Reasonable Accomodation"

This order describes the Department's policies and procedures for temporary modified duty and reasonable accommodation for sworn members of the Department. This order supersedes Information Bulletin #86- 133, and all other Bulletins, Orders, Policies or Procedures regarding modified duty and reasonable accommodation. This order contains the Department's entire modified duty and reasonable accommodation policy.

DGO11.11 "Intervention and Resource Program"

11.11.01 PURPOSE

The Intervention and Resource Program provides members with intervention and recovery resources for problematic and addictive behavioral issues to include but not limited to substance abuse, gambling, and anger/stress management. Substance abuse may include abuse of alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription drugs or any other substance which could impair an employee’s ability to safely and effectively perform the functions of their particular job.

DGO11.09 "Employee Assistance Program/Stress Unit"

I. POLICY

  1. PURPOSE. It is the policy of the San Francisco Police Department to maintain the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Stress Unit for the purpose of providing confidential services to members and their families in dealing with job-related and personal problems.
  2. COUNSELING. Staff are trained to assess problems and counsel the individual and, when necessary, refer to appropriate professional resources.

DGO11.08 "Grooming Standards"

11.08.01 PURPOSE 

Sworn members of the San Francisco Police Department are among the most highly visible representatives of the City and County of San Francisco. The purpose of this policy is to establish grooming standards for sworn uniformed members, hereinafter known as members. While on duty members shall present themselves in a professional manner that is clean, neat, and well-groomed.
