About the SFPD Taraval Station
The Taraval District is the city’s largest and most populous police jurisdiction, encompassing a large part of southwestern San Francisco. It is bordered by Golden Gate Park to the north, Ocean Beach to the west, Daly City to the south, and 7th Avenue down to Interstate 280 to the east. The district includes the inner and outer Sunset neighborhoods, as well as Parkside, Golden Gate Heights, Balboa Terrace, Ingleside Terrace, Monterey Heights, St. Francis Wood, Ingleside, Oceanview, West Portal, Lakeshore Acres, Country Club, Merced Manor, Park Merced, Edgehill, Laguna Honda, Lakeside, Merced Extension, Mount Davidson Manor and Sunset Heights. It oversees the safety of more than 30 public and private schools, the campus of SF State University, a shopping mall, parks, beaches, and public transit hubs. The red-brick station building is a former library directly across from McCoppin Square. Look for the sculpture of children sticking out over a window on its side. This station is part of the San Francisco Police Department's Golden Gate Division.
Meet your Station Captain – Robert Yick
My name is Robert Yick and I am the new commanding officer of Taraval Station. I was the commanding officer back in 2017. I am a fifth-generation San Franciscan, grew up in Laurel Heights, and still maintain a residence in the city. I am grateful for the opportunity to be your captain again. My assignments as a captain include Central Station and the Administration Bureau. I am dedicated to working with the community, merchants, and stakeholders to ensure that the Taraval District is a safe place to reside and visit. My goal is to deliver the best police services to the public through strong community partnerships.
