25-030 Requests for Service

Requests for Service by Notification In-Field: 

When a member in the field is contacted and asked for police services or is informed of the need for police services at another location and the call is of an emergency nature (in progress, just occurred with the chance of arrest, threat to life and/or property, etc.), the member shall:

25-024 Department General Order 8.03 "Crowd Control" Update Packet #118

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 8. 03, Crowd Control, adopted by the Police Commission on January 15, 2025. 

The Police Commission agreed to a 45-business day implementation period and therefore, members will be held accountable for this policy starting March 21, 2025.

25-022 Documenting Arresting Officer(s) in Crime Data Warehouse Arrest Reports

Starting 03/03/25, the Department will begin documenting the arresting officer(s) in arrest reports within Crime Data Warehouse. This change is crucial for maintaining clear records of each case and for internal tracking purposes.

This new data field can be found at the bottom of the Suspect Information page. If a suspect is listed as "Booked" or "Cited," officers are required to enter the star number of at least one arresting officer, with a maximum of two arresting officers, per suspect. The officer's name(s) will auto-populate.

25-021 Reporting Requirements for Cal/OSHA

State law requires every employer to report by telephone to the nearest Cal/OSHA District Office any serious injury and illness, or death, of an employee occurring in a place of employment or in connection with any employment. This report must be made "as soon as possible" and, in all cases, within 8 hours of occurrence. Notification is not required for any injury or illness or death caused by an accident on a public street or highway.

25-012 Family Support Unit

The purpose of this Department Notice is to introduce all employees of the San Francisco Police Department to a new unit and the services it provides. The Family Support Unit (FSU) will work in tandem with the Behavioral Science Unit (BSU) to offer comprehensive support to both current and retired members. This program affirms the Department’s commitment to the health, stability, and dignity of its members and their families. This unit is available to all employees effective immediately.

25-011 Parking Citations and Violations for City-Owned Vehicles and Procedures to Request Dismissal of SFMTA Parking Citation

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has established the following parking guidelines for City-owned vehicles, as well as procedures for parking citation dismissal requests for citations issued to City-owned vehicles. Please note the following policies also apply to any city rented vehicles as well.

The following SFMTA policies generally apply to SFPD unmarked vehicles when the unmarked vehicle displays an emergency red light on the dashboard or from the visor and the member/driver is acting in an official police capacity:
