Disaster Preparedness

Planning is your best protection in any emergency. From earthquakes, power outages and fires to severe storms and tsunamis, San Francisco is vulnerable to a variety of hazards. Please visit sf72.org for a comprehensive set of instructions on how to prepare for disasters, including tips on stockpiling supplies and creating an emergency plan for family and friends. Sf72.org offers official updates, crowdsourced reports and a crisis map to help locate city resources. You’ll also find instructions on receiving emergency text alerts from AlertSF.

In the aftermath of an earthquake, fire, or other disaster, first responders will need the public’s assistance to help survivors and speed recovery. You can train to help SFPD and your neighbors as a volunteer member of our Auxiliary Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT). Click here for details.
