26-002 Overdose Death Investigation Notifications

The San Francisco Police Department Narcotics Unit is now investigating certain drug overdose deaths. The purpose of this notice is to provide guidance for members when responding to suspected drug overdose deaths. The goal of these investigations is the successful prosecution of a narcotics trafficker for distributing a controlled substance that caused the overdose death of an individual. The Narcotics Unit is committed to the comprehensive investigation of overdose deaths and holding suspected narcotics dealers accountable.

DGO3.02 "Terms and Definitions"

3.02.01 PURPOSE 

This order clarifies and standardizes the meanings of certain terms commonly used throughout the Department. 

3.02.02 POLICY 

The terms in this policy will be considered the controlling definition if a conflicting definition arises in other written directives adopted after this policy’s effective date. 

3.02.03 DEFINITIONS 

Adult: Any person 18 years of age or older.

DB 19-015 SFPD Collaborative Reform Initiative Update

The Department's Collaborative Reform Initiative, launched in 2016, has been instrumental in improving our department. Five specially selected command staff members have been assigned as Executive Sponsors to shepherd the work of CRI. I'd like to personally thank Assistant Chief Toney Chaplin, Deputy Chief Mikail Ali, Deputy Chief Robert Moser, Commander David Lazar, and Commander Peter Walsh for their dedicated time and hard work over the past two years. Your efforts are a credit to yourselves, the SFPD, and the City and County of San Francisco.

DB 18-105 Stop Data Collection System (SDCS) Implementation

In order to comply with the Racial and Identity Profiling Act of 2015, also known as California Assembly Bill 953 (AB953), as well as legislation set forth by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the Department will be changing data collection methods currently used to record stop data. On the 1st of July, 2018, the Department shall cease use of eStop and begin use of the State's Stop Data Collection System (SDCS).
