24-121 Injury & Illness Prevention Program and Code of Safe Practices

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) maintains an accessible, comprehensive, and actionable Health & Safety program known as our Injury & Illness Prevention Program or (IIPP).

The SFPD IIPP is written in accordance with California Code ofRegulations (CCR), Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Section 3203. The SFPD is committed to full implementation of this program. Our IIPP includes the following required elements:

24-120 Department General Order 3.12 Department Training Plan Update Packet #110

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 3.12 Department Training Plan, adopted by the Police Commission on Month June 5, 2024. The Police Commission agreed to a 30-business day implementation period and therefore, members will be held accountable for this policy starting July 19, 2024.

24-119 Department General Order 6.20 "Member-Involved Domestic Violence" Update Packet #109

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 6.20 Member Involved Domestic Violence, adopted by the Police Commission on June 5th, 2024. Members will be held accountable for this policy starting July 19th, 2024.

24-117 Arrests of Department Members: Notification Responsibility

As a reminder per DGO 2.01.03.2.g "General Rules of Conduct", it is the responsibility of every Department member to ensure verbal notification is made to the member's Commanding Officer in the event of the member's off-duty arrest for a felony or a misdemeanor, including misdemeanor traffic violations.

Members shall ensure the notification is made after booking or citation. If the member cannot contact their Commanding Officer, the member shall verbally notify their Supervisor. Supervisors shall contact the Commanding Officer regarding the notification.

24-115 Position Opening: Crisis Intervention (CIT) Unit Officers

The Field Operations Bureau - Crisis Intervention (CIT) Unit is accepting applications from members in the rank of officer.

The CIT Unit is highly concerned with the effective and proactive engagement of subjects whose mental health behaviors in combination with violent actions present a public safety concern. The duties are commonly stressful, and the Field Visits to which the CIT Unit are engaging in can be potentially volatile.

This Department Notice and interview process will be used to fill any CIT Unit openings in the next 6 months.

24-111 Use of Department Mailing Address for Personal Mail Prohibited

All employees shall use the Department's mailing address for official business only. All personal mail, including but not limited to personal gun registrations, vehicle registrations, and driver's licenses, shall not be mailed to the Department's mailing address. The sorting and distribution of personal mail is not the responsibility of the Mail Room Staff. All personal mail will be returned to the sender.

24-107 The Sworn Promotional Process

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD or Department) is committed to transparency with all promotional processes. In addition to the Department of Human Resources (OHR) notifications, promotional exams are announced to everyone through Department Notices. Once announced, qualified applicants will receive further instructions pertaining to the application process and how to proceed.

A job description is included in the announcement to communicate what the positions entail as well as the minimum requirements to qualify.
