23-114 Laser Eye Protection

This order seeks to establish a written policy for SFPD members wearing laser protective eyewear and to provide direction on the use of such eye protection.

With civil unrest throughout the nation the deployment of laser devices has been used as a new tactic to injure officers by impairing their vision. Accordingly, to maintain a high standard of officer safety the Department will issue laser protective eyewear to officers. The laser eye protection kit includes a frame, a case, as well as a clear lens, a smoke lens, and a laser protective Iens.
