Overview

The California State Department of Public Health (CDPH) and CCSF have updated its COVID19 isolation guidance from time based to symptom based. This Department Notice serves to notify members of the updated changes.

Isolation

The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office currently uses the Electronic Subpoena System (ESS) which transmits subpoenas to a Department e-mail address in criminal or grand jury cases only. Airport members are expected to access the associated website link by logging in with a user ID and password. Proof of service will occur electronically from the moment the member opens the link to view the subpoena.

In September 2023, the San Francisco Police Department was awarded with California’s Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) grant to combat organized retail theft. The grant provided funding to partner with Flock Safety to install a network of hundreds of ALPR cameras throughout the City and County of San Francisco.

Flock Safety ALPR

Flock ALPR cameras provide critical data to enhance community safety and assist law enforcement in investigations. Flock Safety cameras automatically read and record license plate numbers from passing vehicles.

The purpose of this notice is to bring attention to the provisions of the San Francisco Civil Service Commission (CSC) Rule 220 Article I-IV, which governs “Leaves of Absence,” including Sick Leave.

For members of the San Francisco Police Department, eligibility for Sick Leave is established as follows:

Sec. 220.2 Eligibility for Sick Leave

The purpose of this Department Notice is to provide members with additional training and information in the collection of DNA evidence. Members should have the ability to collect basic DNA evidence at crime scenes that does not otherwise require a CSI response. Examples include blood left behind by a suspect when breaking a window in an auto boost, video showing a suspect touching an exterior window at an attempted burglary, or possible trace DNA left behind when a suspect touches a surface of a glovebox latch or the steering wheel of a stolen vehicle.

The maintenance of accurate and timely HRMS records is critical to the Department's efforts to staff events and maintain minimum staffing levels at district stations.

All platoon commanders and other members responsible for timekeeping are therefore reminded to enter all approved discretionary time-off requests as soon as possible to allow for the advanced planning of staffing needs.

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 9.05, Citation Control, adopted by the Police Commission on March 6, 2024. The Police Commission agreed to a 45-business day implementation period and therefore, members will be held accountable for this policy starting May 8, 2024.

The federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) prohibit discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, against qualified employees on the basis of disability. In accordance with the law, it is the policy of the SFPD to provide equal employment opportunities to employees with disabilities.

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 8.04 Critical Incident Response Team, adopted by the Police Commission on February 14, 2024. The Police Commission agreed to a 30-business day implementation period and therefore, members will be held accountable for this policy starting March 28, 2024.

The purpose of this notice is to introduce the department form titled "Notification of Response" (SFPD 625). Due to the occasional misconception that officers have not responded to calls for service, this form was designed to be left at locations in which reporting parties were unable to be contacted.
