24-179 Fire and Arson Investigations

The San Francisco Arson Task Force, which combines the SFFD Bureau of Fire Investigation (BFI) and the SFPD Arson Detail, is responsible for determining the origin and causes of fires and related investigations. Arson investigators are always available for response and consultation. 24-177 Journey Home Program

The purpose of this Department Notice is to provide instruction to members on how to use the services of the Journey Home Program. Journey Home is a program in addition to Homeward Bound to assist individuals who wish to return home. Members are encouraged to mention and provide services to unhoused individuals they encounter.

24-176 Uniform and Clothing Allowance

Members are reminded that the provisions of the current SFPOA and MEA MOUs, both ending June 30, 2026, regarding uniform and clothing allowances remain in effect. Sworn members will receive an annual uniform allowance of $1,100. The allowance will be considered as pay for pension purposes and will be paid at the rate of $42.31 per pay period.

24-174 San Francisco Ethics Commission Statement of Incompatible Activities

The San Francisco Police Department required its members to review Department specific statements of incompatible activities each year. With the passage of Proposition D in March of 2024, the San Francisco Ethics Commission standardized the kinds of activities that are incompatible with the public duties for all city employees. 24-173 Ninth Circuit Opinion on Suspected Stolen Vehicle Stops | Tactical Refresher from the Training Division

The purpose of this Department Notice is to notify sworn personnel of the Ninth Circuit opinion in Chinaryan v. City of Los Angeles which denied qualified immunity to LAPD officers, because of their actions during a traffic stop of a suspected stolen vehicle, exposing them to potential civil liability.

24-166 Hearing Conservation Program

California Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Title 8, Section 5097, Hearing Conservation Program, states that employers shall administer a continuing, effective Hearing Conservation Program whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour, time weighted, average sound level (TWA) of 85 decibels.

Members who are in the Hearing Conservation Program include officers assigned to the Range, Canine Unit, Honda Unit, Marine Unit, SOG (including TAC, EOD, and Specialists), Solo Unit, and Airport.

Additionally, select employees of the Crime Lab who are:
