24-153 Reckless Driving Incidents Involving Off Highway Vehicles (OHVs)

Dirt Bikes and ATVs that are lacking necessary safety equipment and registration are classified as "Off-Highway Vehicles" also known as OHVs. These types of vehicles are illegal to operate on public highways and create a hazard to the operator, other motorists, and pedestrians.

In situations where officers encounter OHVs being ridden or parked in a group on city streets, the following actions should be taken:

24-150 Changes to SF Traffic Court Location

Beginning October 7, 2024, Traffic Court is moving to Department 218 located in the Civic Center Courthouse at 400 McAllister St. Traffic Court will no longer be located at 850 Bryant St. All members subpoenaed to Traffic Court on October 7th and thereafter shall appear at 1300 hours at the new location.

Traffic Court encourages members to appear over Zoom for all Wednesday trials, but in-person appearances continue to be option that day.

24-146 Department General Order 2.06 "Vehicle Crashes Involving Members" Update Packet #112

The purpose of this directive is to announce the revision of Department General Order 2.06, Vehicle Crashes Involving Members, adopted by the Police Commission on September 4th , 2024. The Police Commission agreed to a 45 calendar day implementation period and therefore, members will be held accountable for this policy starting October 19, 2024.

24-143 Mobile Security Units

The purpose of this Department Notice is to provide guidance for the placement and monitoring of Mobile Security Units (MSUs), otherwise known as camera trailers, as well as the storage and release of captured images.

This policy only applies to MSUs and does not apply to any other surveillance technology used by the Department.

24-142 Mandatory and Voluntary Overtime and Limits

The purpose of this Department Notice is to establish overtime rules and limits and provide members with a definition of mandatory and voluntary overtime.

The health and wellness of our members can be adversely affected by working long hours and multiple days in a row. Members shall monitor their overtime to avoid violations of this policy.
