Homicide and Missing Child
The Mayors office has authorized a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Evelyn Hernandez and her unborn, full term fetus, as well as for information leading to the identification, apprehension and prosecution of the person (s) responsible for the disappearance of her 5 year old son, Alex Hernandez.
Evelyn Hernandez, 24 years old, was last heard from on the night of May 01, 2002, at her residence at 224 Lowell Street in San Francisco. Her wallet was found several days later, in the gutter on Linden Avenue at Canal Street, in South San Francisco. On May 07, 2002, she and her 5-year-old son Alex were reported missing. On July 24, 2002, Evelyn Hernandez's partial remains were found floating in the Bay, near the Embarcadero and Folsom Street. Her full-term, unborn child and her son Alex have not been found.
Alex is described as Hispanic, 4 feet tall, 45 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.
