Arrest in Hit & Run South of Market Injury Collision March 27

San Francisco police have arrested the suspect in a hit and run injury collision that occurred on March 27, 2013 at the intersection of Townsend and 2nd streets at approximately 1:15 P.M. Taken into custody on August 14 was Meredith Kessler, 35, of San Francisco.

In this incident, the suspect, driving a 2007 Jeep, proceeded northbound on 2nd Street and turned westbound onto Townsend Street, striking the victim, a 53-year-old San Francisco man, who was in the crosswalk on a green light. The driver fled the scene. The victim’s injuries were later deemed to be non-life-threatening.

Police initiated an investigation, including the examination of surveillance video evidence, that helped lead to the identification of Kessler. A felony arrest warrant was issued on August 9 and she surrendered to police on August 14.

Kessler was charged with felony hit and run, causing great bodily injury.
