The California Values Act generally prohibits California law enforcement agencies (LEAs) from using resources to investigate, interrogate, detain, detect, or arrest persons for immigration enforcement purposes.

The purpose of this Notice is to remind Level II users of the mandatory Cal DOJ guidelines set forth by AB 17471 pertaining to use of the CLETS system, and to notify users that Cal DOJ bas removed Purpose Code "U" - Investigative Violations of Section 1325 of Title 8.

CLETS mask purpose codes can be entered in Level II in the "CLETS Purpose Code" field, where now only two options will be available in the drop-down menu.

For Purpose code "C" in Level II, wording is included to remind users conducting III Mask checks to use this code for the majority of investigations.
