Operations on Tuesday and Wednesday alone netted 67 arrests and over 300 grams of narcotics

The San Francisco Police Department’s crackdown on illegal drugs continued for a second week, with officers making over 350 arrests while seizing over 12 lbs. of narcotics and 16 firearms, SFPD Interim Chief Paul Yep announced Thursday.

The supercharged enforcement efforts included major operations in the Tenderloin on Tuesday and Wednesday nights that resulted in 67 arrests and the seizure of over 300 grams of narcotics, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

In late October, SFPD redeployed resources and began ramping up enforcement operations like buy busts and fugitive enforcement efforts in neighborhoods most impacted by drug-related activity, like the Tenderloin, South of Market, and Mission neighborhoods.

“Our message is clear: anyone selling or using illegal drugs in San Francisco will be arrested,” Yep said. “We will continue this effort for as long as it takes. Thank you to our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, and thank you to the hard-working men and women of the SFPD who are keeping us safe every day.”

These operations will continue in the weeks to come as the SFPD works with our city, state, and federal law enforcement partners to get drugs off our streets.

The Drug Enforcement Agency Coordination Center (DMACC) was launched in 2023 as a multi-agency task force combining the city’s law enforcement agencies and other departments to address street conditions and crime associated with drug dealing and drug use in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods. The SFPD expanded DMACC into the Mission District in early 2025.

Since launching DMACC, SFPD has seized 960 lbs. of narcotics, including 342 lbs. of fentanyl. Officers have made 11,123 arrests, including 2,258 arrests for drug dealing.

Initial phases of DMACC included enforcement operations around 7th and Mission streets and United Nations Plaza, which have seen improvements. More recently, SFPD has been focused on the Sixth Street corridor in the South of Market neighborhood and the areas around the 16th Street and 24th Street BART plazas in the Mission District.

The SFPD is committed to continuing these efforts and working closely with Mayor Daniel Lurie to ensure streets are clean and safe as conditions in San Francisco improve every day.
