This Department Notice announces the Policy Development Division (PDD) and the required cooperation of involved members during the creation, update and issuing process for all Department written directives.

Authority
Members assigned to PDD work under the authority and direction of the Assistant Chief, Chief of Staff.

Duties
The PDD is tasked with providing the Department with a suite of policy development services, including researching and drafting policy updates, collaborating with the Academy Training Division, Operations Bureaus, Risk Management, Policy and Public Affairs and other units to ensure policy revisions are clear, cohesive, and practical. Compliance with DGO 3.01 , including revisions and implementation of the Department policy development process will fall under the direction of PDD.

This Division ensures policy discussions and agreements between the Department, the Department of Police Accountability (DPA) and any other stakeholder are received, tracked, or responded to in a transparent and consistent way. The Chief of Staff and/or their designee will be the primary point of contact for DPA relating to policy concerns and recommendations.
