23-096 Declaration of Prior Law Enforcement Service
Department Notice
Per the new POA MOU, beginning July 1, 2023, employees who possess an Intermediate POST certificate or higher and have completed the requisite years of service as a sworn police officer or sworn deputy sheriff shall receive the following retention pay listed in the table below.

Please note, eligibility for this premium is now inclusive of all sworn police officer or deputy sheriff service, including such service from another law enforcement agency outside of the San Francisco Police Department.
For those members who have sworn police officer or deputy sheriff service from another law enforcement agency, the Declaration of Prior Police/Sheriff Service form (attached to this Department Notice) must be filled out and submitted to the Payroll Unit. In addition to this form, the member's POST Profile (accessible by logging in to the POST website) must also be submitted to the Payroll Unit to verify eligibility. Please submit both items to the Payroll Unit by Friday, June 9, 2023, to begin receiving eligible retention premiums on July 1, 2023.
Additional retention premium percentages for those with prior qualifying sworn law enforcement experience will not be paid without submission of the form and supporting POST Profile documentation.
