Department Notice
The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) will be accepting applications for the Executive Development Course (EDC). EDC is the last in a series of professional development programs offered by POST and is intended to enhance the leadership potential and capabilities of law enforcement executives. EDC addresses a broad range of contemporary topics, issues, and trends relevant to the law enforcement executive. EDC is an 80-hour course conducted in two separate one-week sessions. EDC is a tuition free, reimbursable POST Plan IV program.
EDC is designed for department heads and their executive staff but is open to all sworn personnel at the rank of Lieutenant or above who have successfully completed the POST Management Course. POST gives priority to members at the rank of Captain or above.
Members wishing to be considered for EDC should submit a memorandum through their chain of command to the Deputy Chief of Administration no later than 21 days after issuance of this Department Notice. The memorandum should describe the applicant's interest and reason for seeking this training. Please refer to POST Website for detailed program information. Applications will be submitted to the Chief of Police for consideration. DO NOT apply on the POST website until the selection process is completed and directed by the Department.
Applicants who were not previously selected by the Department are encouraged to reapply if they are still interested in attending EDC.
