In late September 2018, the San Francisco Police Department asked for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in an aggravated assault investigation. On September 8, 2018 at approximately 11:22 PM, an aggravated assault occurred on First and Howard Streets in the Southern District. In this incident, the victim was reportedly waiting on the street corner for a rideshare service when a vehicle pulled up next to him. The victim approached the vehicle, believing that it belonged to rideshare company . An occupant of the vehicle then exited the car and punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain life threatening injuries. The suspect returned to the vehicle–described as a white four door sedan with silver rims and a black roof - and fled the scene. Surveillance photos of the suspect vehicle, surveillance footage capturing the incident, and a forensic sketch of the suspect were also released. Investigative leads were developed through various outlets, leading to the identity of the suspect. On October 16, 2018 San Francisco Police investigators responded to San Jose, CA and took 25 year-old Jiacheng Fang into custody without incident. Fang was arrested on felony charges of assault with force likely causing great bodily injury and battery causing serious bodily injury. Attached is Fang’s booking photo.
