SFPD Arrests Robbery Suspect and Fence Suspects #26-059

Arrests Made Within Minutes of the Reported Crime

On May 17, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to Eddy and Hyde streets for a robbery that had just occurred. Upon hearing of the crime, officers working in the SFPD Real Time Investigations Center (RTIC) immediately reviewed surveillance cameras and located video of the robbery. RTIC put out a description of the suspect and his direction of travel for patrol officers. RTIC also recognized the suspect who closely matched the description of a suspect who committed a robbery at Eddy and Jones streets, which occurred the day before.

RTIC tracked the suspect after he committed the robbery and followed him to Golden Gate and Leavenworth. Through surveillance footage, RTIC observed the suspect speaking with two "fences", a term used for someone who buys stolen property in exchange for cash. RTIC provided patrol officers with a description of two suspected fences. Within minutes, patrol officers located the robbery suspect and developed probable cause to arrest him. RTIC continued to follow the fences via surveillance footage and communicated with patrol officers for their location. Officers located the two fences and developed probable cause to arrest both. During the arrest, officers located the stolen phone and returned it to the victim.

The robbery suspect is identified as a 21-year-old male, Tabaris Foster. Foster was booked into San Francisco County Jail for the charges of robbery (211 PC), conspiracy (182 PC), possession of stolen property (496(a) PC), grand theft (487(a) PC), committing a felony while released from custody on bail (12022.1(a)(1) PC), failure to appear in court (1320.5 PC), and an outstanding arrest warrant for vandalism (594(b)1 PC).

The fences are identified as 33-year-old male Fernado Tezensuruy and 26-year-old male Ronald Escalante Castillo. Tezensuruy and Escalante Castillo were both booked into San Francisco County Jail for the charges of possession of stolen property (496(a) PC) and conspiracy (182 PC).

Although arrests have been made, these investigations remain open and active. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
