SFPD Arrests Juvenile Suspects Following Aggravated Assault Series 25-096

Coordination across units leads to swift arrests

San Francisco police officers detained and arrested a group of juvenile females for an unprovoked assault over the weekend, following several recent similar attacks around the city, Interim Chief Paul Yep announced Monday.

SFPD is investigating at least five apparent unprovoked attacks that began in July involving a group of juveniles with similar suspect descriptions. SFPD has been coordinating across units, including citywide plainclothes, investigations, special operations, and patrol, to identify and hold the suspects accountable.

On July 26, 2025, at approximately 2:54 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of 4th Street regarding a report of an assault. Officers arrived on scene and met with two injured victims who were assaulted by several juvenile females. The victims were medically treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that bystanders stepped in to stop the attack, which caused the suspects to flee the scene on foot.

SFPD officers from the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) were aware of the previous incidents and immediately accessed surveillance video of the attack and disseminated images of the suspects to officers on patrol.

The SFPD Taraval Street Crimes Unit officers who were operating in plainclothes located several subjects matching the images of the assault suspects at Stonestown Galleria. The officers detained the females and, through the course of the investigation, developed probable cause to arrest a 13-year-old female and a 14-year-old female, who were cited and released at the scene for assault likely to produce great bodily injury (245(a)(4) PC). An 11-year-old juvenile female was detained and admonished in compliance with state law. Officers consulted with Juvenile Probation, in compliance with SFPD policy, which advised that the suspects be released to their parents at the scene.

“Violent attacks like these will never be tolerated, and the SFPD will use all resources available to ensure our city is safe,” Interim Police Chief Paul Yep said. “I am extremely disappointed in the actions of these individuals, and they will be held accountable.”

Although arrests have been made, these investigations remain open and active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
