Officers recover a firearm with an extended magazine off suspect

On March 27, 2026, at approximately 1:53 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a business on the 1200 block of South Van Ness Ave regarding a subject making threats and brandishing a firearm at a victim. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who stated that he was involved in a verbal altercation with two unknown subjects inside the grocery store. After the altercation, the two subjects fled from the scene but returned shortly after and brandished a firearm while making threats towards the victim. The subjects then left the area on a scooter.

SFPD Officers working in the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) quickly obtained photographs of the suspects and sent them out to patrol officers. Soon after, officers observed the suspects in the area of 8th and Market streets and coordinated a plan to safely take the suspects into custody. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took the suspects into custody and recovered a firearm with an extended magazine from one of the suspects. Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to place both juvenile male suspects under arrest.

The first juvenile male suspect was transported to the Community Assessment and Referral Center (CARC) and was cited for conspiracy (182 PC) and resisting an officer (148(a)(1) PC).

The second juvenile male suspect was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) and booked for carrying a loaded firearm (25850 PC), minor in possession of a firearm (29610 PC), armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony (12022 PC), brandishing a firearm (417(a)(1) PC), and criminal threats (422 PC).

Due to the suspects' ages, their identities will not be released.

Although arrests have been made, this remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning the message with 'SFPD'. You may remain anonymous.
