Members shall adhere to the following procedures when requesting Emergency Protective Orders (EPOs), search warrants, DUI blood draw search warrants, arrest warrants, emergency bail modifications and/or emergency gun violence restraining orders:
- At all times, members shall contact the San Francisco Superior Court answering service at [Redacted].
- Members requesting a DUI blood draw search warrant, or an Emergency Gun Violence Restraining Order should press "l" and ask to speak to a duty judge. The DUI blood draw search warrant and Emergency Gun Violence Restraining Order call is recorded and later transcribed, so if the judge contacts you directly from the duty judge phone without using the answering service, the call will not be recorded.
- For Juvenile Arrest Warrants, please contact the answering service to be directed to the correct Judge assigned to the Juvenile Justice Center. Members requesting an EPO, search warrant, arrest warrant and/or emergency bail modifications should press "2" and ask to speak to either the duty officer or duty judge.
- The duty judge handles requests for all daytime (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) EPOs. The duty officer handles all the nighttime and weekend requests (5:00 PM to 9:00 AM) for EPOs.
- The duty judge handles requests for search warrants (including juvenile search warrants), DUI blood draw search warrants, arrest warrants, emergency bail modifications and emergency gun violence restraining orders.
The duty officer or the duty judge will contact the member within one hour of the member calling the answering service. If the member does not receive a response from the duty officer or duty judge within one hour, the member should call the answering service again to obtain an estimated response time.
Members assigned to the Airport Bureau shall follow San Mateo County court procedures for requesting warrants and bail modifications described in this notice.
