SFPD Pride Patch Project Returns to Support Openhouse #26-064
San Francisco Police Department officers are celebrating San Francisco Pride by wearing Pride patches during the month of June and raising funds for the nonprofit organization Openhouse. Learn more about Openhouse SF.
This is the first year the San Francisco Police Officer’s Pride Alliance is raising funds for Openhouse. Openhouse was founded in 1998 to provide LGBTQ+ older adults and adults with disabilities a chance to enhance their independence and reconnect with the community. Openhouse provides housing, direct services, and community programs for the LGBTQ+ elders who face unique challenges as they age. The nonprofit offers more than 100 units of affordable housing to elders in partnership with Mercy Housing and plans to create more affordable units in the coming years, creating the largest affordable housing campus for LGBTQ+ older adults in the country.
For the last 6 years, the Pride Patch Project has demonstrated the support and inclusiveness of the SFPD to LGBTQ+ communities. SFPD members proudly wear them every June since 2019.
