The purpose of this notice is to inform members of how to correctly complete citations involving LIDAR/RADAR to avoid the invalidation of traffic citations. Officers should be aware of the following:
- When issuing citations for 22350 CVC obtained from LIDAR/RADAR, officers must fill in all three of the following boxes: Speed Approx, Max Speed and LIDAR/RADAR Speed. (See example #1) The eCite will not accept a citation with just LIDAR/RADAR Speed and Max Speed.
- When issuing citations for 22350 CVC where LIDAR/RADAR was not utilized, the input of a Speed Approx and a Max Speed is required. (See example #2) The Speed Approx, must be higher than the Max Speed. For example, the eCite will not accept a citation with Speed Approx of 25 and Max Speed 25. The eCite will accept a Speed Approx of 25 and Max Speed of 10.
