All Department members/employees are reminded that there should be no political endorsements while on duty or in uniform. Department General Order 2.01 General Rules of Conduct states:

Political Activity - Members/employees shall not, while on duty or while acting as a representative of the Department, endorse or oppose political candidates or issues or participate in political campaigns. Members/employees shall not place or cause to be placed politically oriented information in or on any Department building or equipment other than upon the bulletin board provided for the posting of general notices. Additionally, members/employees shall not use Department email for the purpose of political activity. Members/employees can review the most current Political Activity Memorandum on the City Attorney's website.

Additionally, members/employees shall not use City or Department resources, including the e-mail system for the purpose of political activity. Members are reminded that personal use of City resources not related to official City business is prohibited.

Members should review the attached Political Activity Memorandum issued by the City Attorney on September 6, 2022. The memo describes the rules governing political activities by City professional staff and officers.
