23-199 Quarterly Reporting of Misconduct Complaints against SFPD Employees
Department Notice
In keeping with the Department’s effort to be transparent with the community and employees of SFPD, the Internal Affairs Division has created a report titled “IAD Quarterly Report.”.
Among other data variables, the report includes the following:
- Aggregate data used for analysis and quarterly comparison of open and closed cases.
- Anonymized complaint summaries for each opened case.
- Employee demographics for opened cases, type of employee (sworn and professional staff), and employee tenure.
- Findings in closed cases, broken down by employee demographics and tenure.
- Disciplinary actions in closed cases broken down by employee demographics and tenure.
In addition, an annual report will be produced for the Police Commission, which includes the analysis of discipline, including officer demographics and prior discipline histories. The purpose of this report is to ensure the SFPD is consistently applying the principles of procedural justice and adhering to the discipline matrix in the internal discipline process.
This data will be presented in an aggregate fashion, in accordance with CA Penal Code 832.7(d), and not presented with identifying information related to specific individuals or cases.
The IAD Quarterly Report is available online.
