25-006 Reminders on Emergency Protective Orders
Department Notice
The purpose of this notice is to serve as a reminder for members when seeking an Emergency Protective Order (EPO). Occasionally, Officers will seek an EPO during a "stranger" stalking investigation. Officers are cautioned not to provide information on the EPO that the restrained person may not already have. If the protected person believes that the restrained person does not have the protected person's address, please do not list the protective person's address in Section 3 Subsection c of the EPO.
Members are also reminded that EPO's can be sought for domestic violence, child abuse, child abduction, elder or dependent adult abuse ( other than financial abuse), and stalking.
