Department Policy Public Input

To expand upon the success of the Collaborative Reform Initiative’s public input process, SFPD has launched a portal to collect public comment on all Department General Orders. The SFPD created this process to reaffirm its commitment to 'Safety with Respect' and to expand on the success of the California Department of Justice (Cal DOJ) overseen Collaborative Reform Initiative. This page will be updated as General Orders reach the public comment stage of the development process.

Each of the below sections provides access to documents utilized during the drafting process. When a draft DGO reaches its window for public comment, comments can be input here.

Each DGO is afforded 30 business days for public input and the availability of each DGO in the above linked comment form adjusts accordingly.

Upon submission to the SF Police commission, documents and changes thereto can be tracked on the Police Commission website. General Orders being led and developed by the San Francisco Police Commission may collect comment as directed per the Commission.

For detailed information about the policy development process, please see DGO 3.01, Written Communications.
