TB Screening
Annual TB screening is still recommended for all sworn officers, police service aides and police cadets. Those who recently spent time with someone who has active TB disease, work in places where TB is more likely to spread, such as hospitals, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, and nursing homes are highly recommended to get tested for TB.
Individuals who have a higher risk of developing TB disease once infected are those with weaker immune systems, such as diabetes, cancer or HIV or those on immunosuppression medications. Additionally, those who had temporary residence of greater than 1 month in a country with a high TB rate are also at risk. More information can be found at CDC website. Information on symptoms of TB disease can be also found CDC website.
TB tests can be performed at any primary care physician's office or contact ZSFGH/Employee Health at [email protected] or (628) 206-6581 to schedule an appointment.
