You're invited to join the SFPD's Traffic Unit and practice techniques with our motor officers! These safety courses will be offered throughout Summer 2026 over eight dates. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Practice motorcycle techniques such as:
- Crash avoidance
- Proper braking
- Turning techniques
- Urban riding skills
- Emergency maneuvers
- Slow movement control
Applicants must have: an M1 endorsement, motorcycle protective gear, and a currently registered and insured motorcycle.
The Safety Skills Course is held on Treasure Island at the SFPD's Traffic Unit facility on the following dates:

- May 30, 2026
- June 13, 2026
- June 20, 2026
- July 11, 2026
- July 25, 2026
- August 8, 2026
- August 22, 2026
