The National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA), founded in the early 1970s by John Parraz of the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department and Vicente Calderon of the California Highway Patrol, has grown into one of the largest Latino law enforcement associations in the United States. With chapters across the nation, NLPOA is dedicated to promoting equality and professionalism in law enforcement through mentorship, education, and community service. The NLPOA's mission includes eliminating prejudice and discrimination within the criminal justice system, fostering personal and professional development of its members, and enhancing relationships between law enforcement and the Latino community. The NLPOA plays a pivotal role in empowering both officers and the communities they serve.

NLPOA's 2024 Annual Law Enforcement Training Conference and Convention will be held in Las Vegas, NV, from September 18-2 l, 2024. The event will offer training sessions focused on advancing officers' careers and strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Women's leadership
  • Officer Wellness
  • Working with mental health
  • Retention strategies
  • Firearms trafficking
  • Fentanyl exposure

Members wishing to attend this conference should submit a memorandum of interest through their chain of command to the Deputy Chief of Administration by Friday, August 30, 2024. For more information about the conference, go to NLPOA website.

If selected, members will receive additional instructions to complete the registration process.
