The FBI UCR program sets guidelines and definitions for what offenses are classified as Part I crimes. This Dashboard is looking at Part I offenses which are serious crimes that occur with regularity in all areas of the country and are likely to be reported to the police. Part I Violent Crime categories include homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Part I Property Crime categories include burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft and arson.
Homicides numbers are based on Incidents; they are not based on number of victims. Homicide does not include Vehicular Manslaughter Incidents. Rape numbers are based on Incidents; they are not based on number of victims. Counts are based on Incident Number not Victim/s or Suspects/s involved in the Incident/Case. Incident detail count are based on the life of a case and takes the minimum Occurrence date, and it captures the highest offense of the Incident/Case, for example if Incident 111-111-111 includes a Homicide and a Robbery, this would capture and count only the Homicide and not the robbery. Unfounded Incidents/Cases are removed from the count. Courtesy Reports are Incidents that occurred outside of San Francisco.
If there is no data for a selected date range for a crime category, that crime category may not appear.
