On April 29, 2026, at approximately 11:09 a.m., SFPD officers assigned to the Citywide Plainclothes Team began surveillance of a purple Dodge Challenger suspected of being involved in a series of auto burglaries.

While surveilling the vehicle, officers observed a subject wearing a black ski mask exit the suspect vehicle and walk toward a school located on the 1300 block of 7th Avenue. A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) unit was on scene assisting with the surveillance.

Moments later, the same subject was observed running back toward the vehicle while being chased by an unknown individual. The subject entered the Dodge Challenger, which then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, traveling on 7th Avenue and then onto Judah Avenue.

Shortly after observing the above actions, officers discovered that a strong-arm robbery had just been reported on the 1300 block of 7th Avenue. The victim had been pepper-sprayed, and a gold chain was taken.

Plainclothes officers and DFR maintained surveillance on the suspect vehicle, which traveled to the 2900 block of 24th Street. The passenger entered a jewelry store located on the 2900 block of 24th Street. Officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle, which was parked on Florida Street.

Officers entered the jewelry store and detained the passenger who had just given a gold chain to the jewelry store employee. Officers noticed the gold chain matched the description of the chain that was stolen from the victim. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the passenger and seized the gold chain.

Officers who kept watch of the vehicle and the driver observed the driver exit the vehicle. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the driver at the intersection of 24th Street and Florida Street.

Officers recovered the stolen gold chain from the jewelry store and returned it to the victim.

One suspect is a juvenile female, and the other is an 18-year-old male identified as Husani Derrell Cooks. Both suspects were arrested for robbery (211 PC), conspiracy (182(a)(1) PC), and possession of stolen merchandise (496(a) PC). Due to one suspect being a minor, her name will not be released.

Although arrests have been made, this remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning your message with 'SFPD'.
