The purpose of this notice is to introduce how to become a Guardians of the City (GOTC) docent.

Are you passionate about preserving the rich history of public safety in San Francisco? Do you have a knack for storytelling and enjoy engaging with people? If so, we'd love for you to become a docent at Guardians of the City (GOTC)!
About Us: Guardians of the City (GOTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and preserving the history of public safety in San Francisco. For the past 15 years, we have been showcasing the remarkable contributions of our Police, Fire, Sheriff, and EMS departments at our public safety museum located at 655 Presidio Avenue, San Francisco.
Position: Docent (Volunteer)
Role Overview: As a docent, you will lead visitors and guests on engaging tours of our museum. You will have the opportunity to share fascinating stories and insights about the history of public safety in San Francisco, contributing to a greater appreciation of our city's heroes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct brief tours of the museum for visitors.
- Engage with both small and large groups, sharing knowledge about public safety history.
- Participate in a short training session (approximately 1.5 hours) covering museum procedures, including opening and closing.
Qualifications:
- Ability to speak confidently in front of diverse audiences.
- Working knowledge of San Francisco's public safety history, with a focus on the respective departments.
- Open to active members (sworn and professional staff), retirees, public safety officers, and anyone with a keen interest in public safety history.
Schedule:
- Volunteer opportunities are available Thursday through Sunday, from 1 to 4 PM.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability.
