SFPD Makes Arrest in the 400 Block of Duboce Avenue Homicide 23-053

On Friday, May 5, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., San Francisco Police officers from Park Station responded to the 400 block of Duboce Avenue regarding a report of an unresponsive person on the ground inside of a building. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, a 64- year-old female, suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene.

Despite efforts by first responders, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased.

Officers quickly obtained suspect information, located and then detained him within the same building. Officers identified the suspect as, 41-year-old Jesus Esparza of San Francisco, and developed probable cause to arrest him.

Esparza was transported and booked at San Francisco County Jail for charges of murder (187(a) PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1) PC), and resisting arrest (148(a)(1) PC).

This investigation is being led by the SFPD Homicide Detail.
