SFPD Make Arrest in Mission Bank Robbery 19-021

On Friday, February 22, 2019 at approximately 12:33PM San Francisco Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of Mission Street for a report of a bank robbery. Officers spoke with a bank teller who said that the suspect approached her window and demanded money. The suspect simulated a handgun. Fearing for her safety, the teller provided the suspect with U.S. currency. The suspect then fled the bank on foot.

Officers spoke with a security guard who said the suspect ran into a nearby business. The security guard walked the officers to that location and pointed out the suspect. Officers detained the suspect and searched him. The search revealed the suspect had cash and tracker bills that the bank teller had handed him. The suspect was arrested without incident.

71 year-old San Francisco resident, Hugo Carranza was booked at San Francisco County Jail for robbery and a no-bail warrant.
