SFPD Make Arrest in Attempted Homicide/Robbery Investigation

On December 28, 2018 at approximately 5 PM, a fight between two male adults occurred at the corner of Cyril Magnin and Eddy Streets in the Tenderloin District. The suspect was captured on video kicking and punching the victim multiple times while also robbing him before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported the hospital, where he is still recovering.

An investigation into the attack ensued and the suspect was identified as Melton Earl Kelly, 25 years old, Oakland resident.

On December 30, 2018 at approximately 7:19 AM, officers from the SFPD Tenderloin Task Force spotted Kelly on the 300 block of Ellis Street. Kelly was taken into custody and booked at San Francisco County Jail on felony charges of attempted murder, robbery, mayhem, multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting/delaying/obstructing peace officer duties, and multiple narcotics related charges.
