SFPD Invites Community Members to Attend National Night Out Events #26-098

The San Francisco Police Department is inviting community members to attend National Night Out events on Tuesday, August 4. The evening offers an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other, learn about available city and community resources, and get to know police officers who serve their neighborhoods.
“SFPD and our officers are proud to host National Night Out events this year,” said Police Chief Derrick Lew. “We are grateful for all our civic partnerships and the support of communities across the city. We hope everyone enjoys a fun evening of community building while learning about the SFPD’s crime-fighting efforts.”
National Night Out is an annual national community-building campaign that promotes community-police partnerships to create safer and stronger neighborhoods. Every first Tuesday night in August, communities across the nation are encouraged to host block parties that feature music, cookouts, contests, youth events, and visits from public safety personnel.
As an SFPD tradition, all 10 police districts within the city host their own events in order for most community members to be able to attend. Each event is unique in its own way, showcasing different SFPD tools that keep San Francisco safe along with fun activities and community resources.
