On October 25, 2026, at approximately 1:06 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Ellis St. regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and located an injured adult male. Officers rendered aid, and medics arrived on scene and transported the male to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of the medical staff, the male was declared deceased in the hospital.
The vehicle and driver involved fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. Through the course of the investigation, officers traced the vehicle’s location to Treasure Island. Upon arrival, officers discovered that California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers had the suspect vehicle stopped for an unrelated traffic violation. SFPD officers advised the CHP officers of the fatality that involved the driver and the vehicle. SFPD officers developed probable cause to arrest the adult female driver. The vehicle was towed from the scene and is being processed for evidence.
The SFPD Homicide Detail investigators responded to the scene and are leading the investigation. The suspect was transported to San Francisco County Jail, where she was booked for homicide (187(a) PC). Due to the pending investigation, the identity of the driver is not being released at this time.
