SFPD Investigates Southern District Homicide 23-134

On October 26, 2023, at approximately 1:06 a.m., San Francisco Police Officers from Southern Station responded to the 1800 block of Market Street to investigate a reported stabbing. SFPD Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim suffering from a possible stab wound. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the life-saving measures of the medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in the hospital. 

SFPD Homicide Detail responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Paul Durden, a 41-year-old male. Homicide investigators sent out a crime bulletin to department members for the arrest of Durden for the homicide. 

At approximately 7:00 a.m. SFPD Bayview District officers located and detained Durden on Jerrold Ave. and Upton St. based on the homicide crime bulletin. Homicide investigators developed probable cause to arrest Durden who was transported to San Francisco County Jail and booked for homicide (187 PC).
