SFPD Investigates Bayview District Homicide 25-065

Suspect located and arrested

On May 25, 2025, at approximately 4:35 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Bayview Station responded to Bayshore Blvd. and Cortland Ave. regarding a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers rendered aid, and medics arrived on scene who transported the victim to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of the emergency responders and the medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Additional officers who responded to the scene searched for the suspect and detained a person who matched the suspect's description near the scene of the incident. Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect.

The SFPD Homicide Detail responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. The suspect, identified as Daniel Garcia, 51-year-old male, was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for homicide (187(a) PC), assault with a deadly weapon (245(a)(1) PC), and elder abuse (368(b)(1) PC).
