On May 24, 2025, at approximately 4:54 p.m., SFPD officers assigned to the Community Violence Reduction Team (CVRT) were assigned to a street festival in the Mission District when they responded to the area of 24th and Balmy streets regarding a physical fight involving multiple subjects.

When the officers responded to the area to search for the parties involved, they observed one subject carrying a bag fleeing from the area and running into a bathroom at a nearby community park. Officers detained the subject and located the bag, which contained a loaded firearm. 18-year-old male, Adrian Zuniga of San Francisco, was placed under arrest, and the firearm was seized.

Zuniga was transported to San Francisco County Jail and was booked on the charges of prohibited person in possession of a firearm (29820(a) PC), 2 counts of carrying a loaded firearm in public (25850(a) PC), felon in possession of ammunition (30305(a)(1) PC), committing a felony while on bail or release (12022.1(a) PC), resisting arrest (148(a)(1) PC), and destroying or concealing evidence (135 PC).

Although an arrest has been made, this is an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
