SFPD Arrest Suspect in Brutal Assault

On September 7, 2013, San Francisco Police made an arrest in a brutal attack that occurred on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Union and Buchanan streets at 1:00 AM. Taken into custody was Joseph Huelbig, 22 years of age of Belmont. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated mayhem, use of a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing great bodily injury. Huelbig is currently being housed at San Francisco County Jail.

In this unprovoked incident, the suspect assaulted the victim with a knife, causing severe lacerations to the victim’s arms. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
