SFPD Arrest Suspect for 22nd Ave. Residential Explosion and Fire 23-018

On Thursday, February 9, 2023, at approximately 9:20 a.m. SFPD officers from Taraval Station responded to an explosion and 3-alarm fire that occurred at a residence located on the 1700 block of 22nd Ave. Officers and investigators arrived on scene to assist the San Francisco Fire Department in the incident. SFFD extinguished the fire and deemed the scene safe for inspection. As investigators sifted through the rubble, they discovered evidence of a possible narcotics manufacturing facility. Investigators also discovered a deceased adult female in the remnants of the burned home. The Medical Examiner arrived on scene and conducted their investigation.   

The SFPD/SFFD Arson Task Force investigators have led the investigation with the assistance of SFPD Narcotics investigators. Investigators determined that an active illegal narcotics manufacturing lab was in the residence. The death of the female victim, which occurred on the premise where narcotics were being manufactured is still under investigation. Investigators were able to identify the suspect.  

On Friday, February 10, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m. SFPD officers and investigators located the suspect on the unit block of Newhall Street and developed probable cause to arrest him. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old male Darron Price of San Francisco, was booked into San Francisco County Jail for the felony charges of involuntary manslaughter (192(b) PC), manufacturing narcotics (11379.6(a) H&S), and two counts of child endangerment (273 a(a) PC).
