SFPD Announces No Drone Zone Designated Around the Golden Gate Bridge Area
The San Francisco Police Department announces the Fourth of July Fireworks on Golden Gate Bridge event has been designated as a No Drone Zone by the Federal Aviation Administration, as part of the public safety efforts to keep America 250 events safe across the nation.
Flying unauthorized drones near the Golden Gate Bridge is illegal and dangerous. During the America 250 fireworks display, the San Francisco Police Department will work closely with our local, state and federal public safety partners to monitor and enforce unauthorized drone activity around the Golden Gate Bridge area.
According to the FAA, reckless, careless, or criminal drone use can lead to severe consequences including prosecution and fines to $100,000, criminal charges, incarceration, and the confiscation of the drone involved.
If you suspect someone is flying a drone illegally:
- Report it to 911
- Contact on-site law enforcement officers
- Call the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-CALL-FBI
