SFPD Academy's 247th Basic/29th Regional Academy Class Graduates

The San Francisco Police Department will be holding a graduation ceremony for the 247th Basic/29th Regional Academy Class on Friday, January 15th, 2016, at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 2850 19th Avenue at Sloat Blvd. at 6:00 P.M. There are 42 recruits graduating from the class, of which 3 recruits represent the Oakland Police Department.

Members of this class possess the following degrees: 2 have Master’s degrees, 22 have Bachelor’s degrees, 4 have an Associate’s degree and 2 have prior military service. Additionally, 1 recruit is a Paramedic and 4 are Emergency Medical Technicians.

Several of the recruits are bilingual. The languages spoken are: Spanish, Hindi, Korean, Hainese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Farsi, Mien, Cambodian, Mandarin, Italian, Portuguese, and French.

The academy class has completed 32 weeks of training. Following the graduation, the newly sworn SFPD officers will begin a 16-week field-training program at various district stations. The recruits from OPD will return to Oakland for their own respective 16-week field training program.
