San Francisco Police Make Arrest in September 7, 2020 Excelsior Side Show Homicide Investigation 21-011

On September 7, 2020 at approximately 12:30 AM, San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Mission Street and Persia Avenue regarding a shooting at a sideshow.

Arriving officers found a shooting victim at Persia and Ocean Avenues.  The victim, a 20-year-old male resident of Brentwood, was later transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Officers also located a 22-year-old male from Elk Grove at the intersection of Mission Street and Persia Avenue.  This victim was suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A third victim, a 19-year-old male Santa Rosa resident was transported by private vehicle to the hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail initiated an investigation that led to the identity of the shooting suspect who has been charged for shooting all three victims.

Since the suspect is a juvenile, his identifying information cannot be released.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male from Sacramento was arrested on the charges of murder (187 PC), two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm (245(b) PC), assault likely to produce great bodily injury (245(a)(4) PC) and discharging a firearm in public (246.3(a) PC).

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was already in custody on an unrelated attempted murder charge in Sacramento.

The case is being prosecuted in Sacramento County as there is a nexus between the San Francisco homicide and other crimes in Sacramento County.
